We are a small husband and wife bakery specializing in homemade, mostly Italian cookies and desserts. Our story stems from a love for our Italian heritage and culture.
Michael was born in Isernia (hometown of Vandra), in the Molise region of Italy and emigrated to the United States with his parents in 1971. I am the first generation daughter of Italian Immigrant parents as well as grandparents and other family members. They are from Ateleta, in the Abbruzzo region of Italy.
I developed a love of sweets and baking in general at a young age, learning from my mother and was eager to learn how to bake our traditional Italian sweets. Along the way, I endeavored to transfer recipes based on “a couple handfuls of this, a pinch of that, etc.” (which is how recipes were handed down for generations) to measured amounts so these old favorites could be kept alive and passed down to future generations. After I married, I continued this process with Michael’s mom to learn how to make and preserve traditional favorites from the Molise region.
As a result, I have decided to make these favorites, and new ones, available to those who also enjoy them and to anyone who loves Italian cookies, culture, and all things Italian.
MANGIA!!
